How to Handle Assigned Hours

Post Body

Hi All,

I'm fairly new to the firm and got assigned to an engagement for 25 hours a week. It began to feel like my senior and senior manager on the project were expecting me to work 40 on the project so I asked them about submitting the hours above the 25. They responded with a couple of things, one was a clear no, I need to submit the time I am allotted and the second was - Well do you have anything else going on?

I am not planning on dedicating a full 40-45 hours a week on this project but being new I'm not sure how to go about letting them know. During my onboarding it was said pretty explicitly that if you put more hours in than you are allotted for then you should report those hours towards the engagement and to report managers who told you otherwise. I don't really want to take that path being so new.

Can anyone more experienced offer advice on how to go about resolving this with my team?
