This is supposed to be the summer that 16-year-old Lucy Waters and her band become famous rock musicians, but instead, it’s the summer when all her relationships unravel. Her plans take a turn when she steals a leather bomber jacket from an old estate sale and finds an archaic puzzle hidden within its lining.

Lucy’s new obsession leads her to befriend a girl she once bullied, dubbed “Frankie Forehead”, who is connected to the jacket. Her relentlessness to solve the puzzle, and her new friendship with Frankie, causes the deterioration of her band, and the breakup with her pretentious boyfriend, Bennie.

Realizing her newfound friendship with Frankie is more genuine than any she’s had before, she loses sight of the treasure hunt, and develops strong feelings for Frankie. Lucy is faced with the dilemma of acting upon her feelings and possibly losing her best friend, or keeping it all bottled up, which she has never been good at. Lucy contemplates what she truly wants out of life and to determine how her summer will end.

I am looking for sensitivity readers in the LGBT community to help me with the details and emotions around Lucy’s transition from straight to bi/lesbian. I want to treat this with the respect it deserves and I do not have the first-hand experience for that.
