Hi all. I am trying to get the name on my rewards account changed because I have legally changed my first name, and the person I spoke to had to go ask somebody, and then came back and told me to create a new account with my new information and call back to have the accounts merged. I have Total Tech and protection plans on everything I buy basically, and I just wanted to ask here if that advice sounds correct and if it's likely that this is going to mess with my protection plans/membership at all.
That seems like a weird solution to me, so I just want to know if anyone has any more information or has changed the name on their membership themselves.
Edited to add: I work for Best Buy, I did call the number, was transferred to a team who supposedly does this, and was told to create a new account and merge them. That doesn't sound correct or necessary, so I'm trying to check with anyone who has done this as an employee or who does this in their job.
