A Brief Response to Critics of non-gaming KIA posts
Hi. I regularly see people commenting that they consider topics that are not strictly gaming to be harmful to the effectiveness of KIA in trying to tackle gaming issues. I think this is a wrong-headed approach.
The corruption of the gaming press and the gaming industry that KIA focues on is not the old-fashioned corruption of bribery and nepotism. The corruption is political. There is no good reason for the gaming press' attacks on gamers from a financial PoV. Their financial interests would be taking cash from AAA publishers to shill whatever kind of game they think appeals to the unwashed neck-beards of gaming.
This isn't what is happening. They(the press) really do believe that gaming is a cesspit of misogyny and right-wing horrors. They are politically rewarded by like minded believers for publishing their opinions and shilling for the politically correct games that neckbeards hate. They do this in spite of the harm caused to their employer's banks. That they can do this is because the whole industry has been subject to snowballing entryism of the regressive political class.
But this political problem is not exclusive to gaming. The gaming contingent is not self-sustaining. For a clear example of this see how frequetly regressive gaming writers appear in non-gaming publications and likewise how often the non-gaming publishers reference the gaming-regressives when they (the mainstream press) talk about the 'controversies in gaming'.
If I could go full godwin here. KiA posters are principally interested in gaming/tech/science regressive infestations. But ignoring the other manifestations of the disease would be as senseless and harmful as if the allies of world war 2 had only bothered themselves with the war inside europe and chosen to ignore the actions of germany and her allies in the rest of the world. If the allies had stayed rigorously on-topic then the war against hitler would have been lost as well as the wide war against the fascist governments.
