Post Body

So, I worked at Best Buy for 2 months, it was my side gig to bring in some extra cash. It was the most toxic environment I have ever worked in, thanks to my former terrible GM. But I held out because I needed the money, until I got promoted at my primary job, which gave me a significant raise and a way better schedule (out of retail, and weekends off). The GM was out on pto when I put in my 2 weeks and I never saw him again. My 2 weeks went into effect on November 1st.

However, November 14th, I got a text from him. Which was weird because I didn’t even have his number when I worked for him. Basically he asked me to consider staying on as flex (even though I was an under-performer, and admittedly didn’t care about the job, that’s my problem, and I know he just needs holiday help, because everyone keeps quitting to get away from him). I never answered him, because I had already denied the experience manager when he asked me to consider flex, as I am in college full time, and will now be working full time in my actual field.

Today, I got emails from workday saying I had been terminated and it went into effect 11/23, and gave me information about unemployment, which has never happened when I left a job. So basically, my question is, is this par for the course? Or did my former GM decide to be toxic and fire me weeks after I quit?

Thanks for any insight, and have a happy holidays! Good luck on the front lines, your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed!
