griffith on many occasions states that he would give everything for his own dream and guts should have known better than anyone else also. he's always been flawless while guts utterly flawed. upon the turn of the table, griffith sacrifices people that called him a friend as well as a leader, so somewhat of a betrayal but i don't really understand if its army, let alone guts, knew about his thirst for personal power but anyway they trusted griffith, so the betrayal is true even more after they rescued him.
this dedication to oneself is what really gives you chills but because i find it a great represantation of what happens everyday in the real world. everything sacrificed on the altar of the moloch called Capital.
this tremendous apathy joined with the pursue of power is what finds it's exact opposite in guts' anger and bitterness.
moreover about the rape of caska, which is the absolute pitiless manifestation of someone that is not human anymore and when griffith is born again as a human doesn't even ever think for a second about apologizing for this (at least) and guts rightly says he lost his rancour for a moment when he sees him again and can't forgive himself about it.
i would like to read the manga to see what's the accurate take of the main army characters regarding the egotism of griffith though
