So this just happened. Iām out of the house running an errand. Garage door was up. Housekeeper took trash to garage. Didnāt close house door to garage completely upon coming back in. Left out the front door.
I pull up in the driveway and Huxtable our doodle bug gets excited as he does when he hears us come home. Iām on the phone for work while in the car.
And he pushes, as he does, against closed doors and before me I see his flag tipped tail running through the garage, into the front yard and starting to frolic.
I end the call, get out and try calling him. Of course he wonāt come. Weāre now playing chase! In the past, these leads through the neighborhood.
I tried tog get him inside by saying that his squirrel nemesis was out by the pool. No luck. Finally, I had to get treats and bring our older goldendoodle outside the front door and start asking him if he āwants some cookiesā to lure back Houdini into the house.
It worked. He was only two houses down. He stays in yards, doesnāt go in the street.
I just honestly feel like my side hustle is in dog psychology because this pig headed bernedoodle is always testing the fences, plotting a romp through the neighborhood, looking for the weakness in home security.
Anyone else deal with this? Have counter measures youād recommend?
Heās a good boy. Heās not trying to run away, just run free. He likes an adventure!
And goā¦
