Thought I had a leak in my tire so I took it to a shop to get it looked at. I was told it would be about 1.5 hours for them to check it over so I walked to a nearby library. As soon as I walked in a person sitting at the entrance smiled at me half waved, then looked away. I smiled back and nodded, just assuming she thought I was someone else. It was around 4 on a weekday and the library was half filled with kids who had just gotten out of school. I steered away from the big group of kids by the computers and browsed the shelves to try and find something to keep me busy for the duration of my wait. On the new arrivals shelf I found the one non-fiction book among the YA fiction and it seemed like it was there just for me. A book about trauma and mental health, and identity in the Asian American community...did the librarians know I was coming? I grabbed the book, found a comfortable seat, and read a bit while I waited for the shop to text me to say my car was done. After about an hour my car was ready. I checked out my newfound book and went back to the shop. The verdict was that there was a small nail in my tire, an easy fix and no charge.
