I was called uneducated for speaking in Kannada in Bengaluru

Post Body

I want to share a funny encounter with a biker that happened few months ago.

I am a Kannadiga and a Bengalurean but I travel a lot for work, I stay in Ooru only 2-3 weeks at a time. I have a very standard routine on the day of my flight, I stay up all night partying with my friends, have Hoskote Biryani at 4 in the morning. I  sleep for few hours in the morning if I’m really sleepy if not I’ll just stay up all day spending time with my dogs and family. I take this flight like 6-7 times a year and it’s 23 hours long by doing this I can just sleep on my flight. I promised my 13 year old cousin I’d buy him a cricket bat but forgot about it until the day of my flight. I couldn’t see his sad little face and I still had an hour before I had to leave to the airport so I figured I have just enough time to go to the store and get him a bat.

Kadugodi bridge right in front of Kadugodi (Whitefield) metro station is probably the shittiest bridge in Nammuru. It’s really small bridge just barely bigger than a single lane, there was a guy in front of my car pushing a cart while coming down the bridge. There was enough space for me to overtake him so I was going to overtake him slowly on the right side. I heard a guy in scooty yell "chutiya" very loudly. I got really mad, if I was alone I wouldn’t have given a fuck but I was with a kid, he heard it and I don’t want him to think this is alright. I let the guy ride his bike next to me and I rolled down the window to ask what the hell happened. He was still mad at me and was yelling at me. Seeing that I cornered him and made him park his bike. He was with a girl who was really scared and was asking him to calm down. I asked him what happened in Kannada and who the fuck is he to call me chutiya. He asks me to talk to him in Hindi or English. I would’ve talked to him Hindi or in English if it was any other situation but the way he asked I didn’t want to talk to him in my broken Hindi. Reason for him to call me chutiya is apparently I didn’t let him pass through. He called me uneducated for not talking to him in Hindi. He said people like me should not be driving in Hindi.  The reason why I think it’s a funny story because of what he said after this, he said he went to BITS Pilani and he will show me his “aukat”. The guy who looked like he was in his mid 30s but head full of white hairs in a run down scooty wanted to show me his “aukat”.

By this time 7-8 vehicles had parked behind my car and his bike, even though I didn’t completely block the entire road. My cousin was begging me to stop it and he was really scared so was the woman in the scooty (she must’ve been in her 30s too). The guy in yellow license plate cab overheard us and understood the entire situation from our conversation. He told me to beat the fuck out of the scooty guy. He was like ‘sar intha loafer nan makluge hodedu buddi helbeku’. I would’ve seriously considered that if I didn’t have a kid with me. Since he wanted to show me the “power of BITS Pilani” I asked him to come to police station with me. I thought it will scare him but he was really enthusiastic about it. I obviously didn’t want to go to police station for something stupid like this especially on the day of my flight. I took his keys to his scooty and told him to go to the police station which is on the opposite side of the road and give a complaint on me. He literally started running towards the police station shouting something like “I will show these uneducated people my power”. He did not care about the women he was with, he left her on the street and started running towards the police station. At this point I wasn’t even mad anymore I found it too funny. I just got in the car drove towards Hope Farm with his bike keys. Me and my cousin had a really good laugh. What I thought would’ve been a very scarring experience for my cousin turned out to be a very good bonding experience with him. I probably still have his bike keys in my car.
