Just looking for peoples views on the following. I applied for carers allowance starting 24th September and got a letter on October 28th saying I was disallowed due to earning too much money in the month of October. My wages were paid but it also included my final bonus earned in June and July. I phoned up and explained to them that it wasn’t money earned during October and it was just a company catching up and it was put forward for a mandatory reconsideration on the evidence I’d submitted. I’ve been given so much conflicting information that I should be awarded it as it wasn’t money earned in October and I’ve also been told it doesn’t matter when you earned it. It’s the case of when you’re paid. After several phone calls, I’m still being told nothing has been processed with the mandatory reconsideration and that it could take up to a year to sort out. I put in a new claim from the 4th of November on October 28th. 9 weeks ago and I phoned again to be told it’s not been processed yet. They have emailed somebody but I’m just getting such poor assistance on the whole matter. I’m turning down work to keep under the earnings limit and getting fed up.
