Just a heads up that it’s hit or miss at RDM right now. There have been a few missed approaches and some diversions. Some are getting in also.
The Terminal Area Forecast (TAF) issued at 3:20pm is calling for Fog, vertical visibility 200 feet and ½ a mile visibility from 4:00pm to tomorrow at 1:00pm. This is right at the minimums, so it’s no surprise that a lot of flights are having issues.
Bottom line, keep your head on a swivel if you're meeting someone at the airport. If the plane makes a u-turn, you will also.
Also, if you have early flights, they might cancel if the inbound cancels. These are flights that normally arrive after 9:00pm.
My favorite flight resources are:
- Avia Weather - Android app, but any aviation weather app that decodes the weather works,
- FlightRadar24 - App and website that tracks flights based positioning information used by the FAA.
- Flight Aware - App that allows you to easily seeing where your plane is coming from and if it’s on time.
Wish me luck… I’ll hopefully be flying in from PDX, but if it cancels… I’ve got a rent a car lined up.
