Hello all, the following is my personal detailed experience with Bells Palsy—
Jan 20-21: Earachey-type pain started overnight
Jan 22: Got off work and felt a little numbness on my top-left, upper lip (thought it was a cold sore coming on)
Jan 23: Woke up with almost complete left-sided facial paralysis went to the ER by 11:00 and diagnosed, given a 5 day steroid, eye drops, and antiviral (3x a day for 10 days)
Jan 24: Complete left-sided facial paralysis
Jan 29: Random twitches in my face, primarily in the corner of my mouth and throughout my cheek
Jan 30-Feb 15: Left sided facial pain- hurt to touch, earachey-type pain returned, left-sided headaches in the back of my head that came and went continuously. I can only describe this pain as primarily nerve pain.
Feb 16: The twitches that I had been having stopped and I was able to barely move the corner of my lip, it was just a flicker of movement.
Feb 17-Feb 24: Gradual improvement in movement I would say it’s about 80% normal. It’s been about a month of healing for me and I’m pleased with the progress.
I just wanted to share my story in hopes that it may help to give a little hope to those that come after me. IT GETS BETTER. Go get treatment early and rest; healing comes with time. Sending good vibes and love your way my friends. <3
