Looking to get involved in the community and make friends
Post Body

Howdy y'all,

I've recently reached a point in my life where I realize that I've been far too invested in my current romantic relationship and, as a result, have neglected my personal social life for a long time. I'd like to start orienting out towards the community to be involved with and hopefully start meeting other people to add to my social circles, but I'm not sure where to start. I was hoping some of you fine people can recommend groups/events that go on in the area that I can look into and hopefully attend.

Things I like: Gaming (video or tabletop), drawing, writing, singing, mountain biking (lower skill level), hiking, camping, weight lifting, meditating, and reading.

I wouldn't necessarily say I'm a "sporty" person, but I'm not opposed to getting involved with a local team if anybody has good recommendations. I could certainly see the benefit of pushing myself to try something new. I've got some frisbee golf discs but not much else.

I've heard volunteering can be a good way to get out and meet people, but I'm not entirely sure what volunteering opportunities are in the area. Recommendations would be helpful!

Note: I've already checked out Meetup, and didn't have too much luck with finding a good fit. Additionally, I left Facebook about 7 years ago. Some people have suggested finding groups there, but I'd really rather not go back there if I can help it.

Thank you for your interest and feedback!
