Our Prime Minister has basically cancelled our Thanksgiving ( in October) and we are hoping to salvage Christmas but with a combination of a second wave and flu season I doubt that will happen. People have gotten sloppy about physical distancing. In BC we have one of the best public health officers in the world. She is keeping us safe as is possible. Masks haven't been mandated here, although most people do wear face coverings. Public transit has mandated masks but there aren't any confrontations if somebody doesn't comply. We go to work, grocery shopping and Costco and that's about it. We have been well taken care of financially and provincially. We have some whacked out billion dollar deficits but everybody is fairly chill about it. The BC Premier has called an election for October but we can do mail in voting so that eases the stress. 86% of Canadians want to keep the border closed and I suspect it will be a long haul before it opens again. As I said before, we miss you and worry about you a lot. It is very strange not seeing Washington State plates here. Because Canadian Snowbirds can't travel to Arizona and Florida this winter, we are starting to see a lot of plates from other provinces. As you know, it's much less harsh of a winter on the west coast. I'll keep you posted as to how we are doing. Signed Your new Canadian penpal.
