Going to go straight to the point. Out of nowhere the other day, I get a phone call from something called "Common Collections Agency". I was working at the time so I didn't pick up, but they left a voicemail telling me this was an urgent matter and I need to call back immediately. So I call and the receptionist (?) tells me the person who wants to speak to me is on lunch, but found my name in her system and informed me that this was at least regarding BANK A. Now I was a little worried. BANK A, as I'm going to refer to them as, is my actual bank I use. I was very confused because I keep up on all of my bills and payments. Just to be safe, I called BANK A's support, and they confirmed my account is indeed in good standing and they would have no reason to send collections after me. They told me that whoever called me is most likely a scam trying to get my info and/or money by using scare tactics and not ignore them. Problem is, now I'm getting calls about every other day with the same voicemail everytime in vaguely threatening words. Has anyone else had these calls? What should I do from here? I should also note I looked on the CRA website to see what my rights are if this were real, and it turns out a real collection agency should send you something in the mail first and foremost before any phone calls happen. Thanks for reading!
