Well first, ouch!
I came at this from the perspective that most folks can tell breeds apart. That's my fault, and I'm sorry that I assumed people would be educated about dog breeds.
I do not own an Malligator, but I have been so interested in different breeds for so long that I assumed most folks would be able to see it, before looking at adoption.
You are right, not everyone pays a shit ton of money at a breeder, and I also think that is the root of the problem. Folks breed this dog, and sell it without owners knowing what they are signing up for, which is why so many good pups end up in shelters or euthanized. The malligator is such a good, loving, trainable dog, if their owner can find out what motivates them.
I have been fascinated by this breed for years, and have the pleasure of babysitting a pair, who were both rescues. It rips my heart every day when one of these pups gets euthanized through no fault of their own.
I love love love the Mals. I do not have a home that can take one. I know this. I don't want to see these pups end up in a situation where someone says uncle and a good pup is put down through no fault of their own.
