Step up from Rebel T6?

My T6 is about 4 years old. Iām looking to step up my camera game a bit but not break $1000. I currently use a sigma 18-250 mm lens with my camera. I mostly take pictures of plants, people and dogs/cats. What do you guys think?
Also, what do you think I could get for my T6 and the two base lenses that came with it?
