I have done close to 0 woodworking in my life, yet am considering buying a pricey bed frame made of white ash that uses Japanese joinery. The wood is unfinished and my understanding is that I can't leave it like that. I don't have a workshop or outdoor space so whatever I do has to happen in my kitchen. I've looked into different oils/shellacs/varnishes and even soap finishes.
But fundamentally my question is: is it crazy for me to think as a total novice that I can sand and properly apply a finish to an entire bed frame in my kitchen without ruining it?
