My kid can put on his own shoes, but he always makes such a big production out of it, sitting on chairs and struggling or else sitting on the floor. So I made him this 11" high bench to sit on. It's 5.5" deep and 33" long. Just regular construction SPF that I had in the basement.
Did most of the cuts by hand, though I used the jigsaw for that rounded cut in the front. The 1x6 I used for the shelf was VERY twisted, so I did my best to hide the twist, and I think it should be ok. I also was reminded of the importance of measuring parts like that to the assembly, not to some hypothetical perfect measurement. The first one was supposed to be 29", so I cut it 29", and surprise surprise, it actually needed to be about 29 1/4".
Sanded as smooth as I could manage and visible surfaces painted with Allbäck Linseed Oil paint (no paint on surfaces that won't normally be seen).
