Do I need to worry about different rates of expansion and contraction if I mix different woods in a project?

Post Body

I'm considering a pretty simple bed platform/pedestal project. I would like to do all the visible parts (pedestal and visible frame around the mattress) in some walnut species and the slats (1" x 2" spaced 1" apart) the mattress sits on, in poplar or maple. Do I need to worry about different rates of movement as we pass through different seasons with different humidity levels?
