Help planning through tenons?

Post Body
Iām building a small bench w/ a top of laminated 2x4s and planning on connecting it to the the 3x3 legs w/through tenons.
In my drawing, I planned for a 1x2 tenon but Iām wondering if I can make things easier for myself. For example, a 1x3 tenon w/1ā shoulders.
Are there different ratios/rules for through tenons or should I cut the tenon as if it were a non-through joint? TIA.
