What can I do to prevent these splits from worsening?

Hi everyone
Currently making a few small cheese boards/serving platters and have these splits in some of the timber I'm using. Just wondering how I can fill these or methods to prevent them from growing over time.
I've thought of epoxy/resin as one method but am open to other, less smelly ideas.
