Trying to decide whether to add a super this late in the year in the North of England?

Post Body

I've had my hive in place for about a month, started from a nuc I got from a friend that had some queen cells. All been going well, there's a laying queen now and the brood box is pretty full of brood in all stages and food. I've been feeding them 1:1 sugar water since arrival. Also migrated them from the nuc box to a National hive.

However they're now starting to run out of space. The last empty frame in the brood box is in the process of being drawn. I don't know whether I should add a super to enable food storage with a view to leaving it on over winter, or to just let the bees keep going in the brood box only.

Being half way through Aug I can't imagine the colony will continue to grow for much longer, additionally I had planned to do a varroa treatment in another 3 or 4 weeks in preparation for winter.

Any advice is gratefully received.
