What’s the best way to defend against wax moths?
Beckham County, Oklahoma
We recently harvested our suppers and when taking the frames back out to get cleaned up we noticed a bunch of wax moth larva. Our process was pretty simple but I’ll list our basic steps to hopefully get the best advice.
Pulled frames one evening and put a in sealed tote with locking clips. Uncapped and spun frames next day. Returned “empty” frames to tote Took frames, spinner, etc to hives to get cleaned up 2 days later (work)
Our main trouble has been with wax moths. Check hives and they seem healthy and strong. Go back a couple weeks later and they’re completely infested.
Me and the guy I keep bees with both have full time jobs and check them as often as possible but it will always be a hobby level thing for us.
TIA for any tips
