My girlfriend that shares the bed with me has never gotten bit, or if she has she doesn't show any traces on her skin. She does get random itchy "bumps" at times exclusively on her upper back but they're very transient and not red at all.
A week ago or so I woke up to a bite on my ankle. It itched for a couple of days and then left. Later I woke up to two bites very close to each other on my thigh. I stripped all of the sheets off, cleaned all the pillowcases, sheets, comforter, etc, and visually analyzed the lip of the mattress all the way around. It was completely clean and looked pristine with no evidence of bedbugs at all.
We put the bed back together and this morning I woke up with another bite, this time right below my kneecap.
Here's a picture of what the two thigh bites look like three days later. Keep in mind, they're still pretty inflamed and very itchy: https://i.imgur.com/jeTtq7t.jpg
I've already bought diatomaceous earth and will carpet the entire room with a light dusting of the stuff, but I don't really know if it's *actually* bedbugs, considering we haven't slept anywhere else recently
