I’ve been living in Bedstuy for a little less than a year now.

I love it a lot but the other night at the deli near me, a man (black, 30-40s) cornered me and asked why I was in his way. When I would move to the side, so would he, blocking my path. Mind you, he had plenty of space to get around me and I was not at all in the way. While he was blocking my way, he called me the f slur and threatened to kill me.

This morning, I am walking to the Utica Ave train station and I see him as I’m walking on the sidewalk. I decide to walk past him, and though I have headphones in, I can hear him threaten to kill me AGAIN.

Has anyone had an encounter like this in the neighborhood recently or is it just me? Near Malcolm X and Decatur Street.
