I'm not very involved in the beauty guru world, but I'm a microcelebrity from another sphere who likes lurking in random subreddits. This sub has felt unusually toxic to me as an outsider, to the point where I've been wondering if there's something about makeup specifically that draws in mean, unempatheric people.
I have people who make similar bad posts about me on other subreddit and I feel really sensitive to seeing bad posts about other creators - people regularly misinterpret, assume bad faith, assign evilness for things we should be allowed to normally disagree about, or just outright make up wrong things about me and then repeat them as though it's fact, and so I feel like I pay really close attention to seeing this happen to anyone else.
