A music organization exercise for the group
Post Body

Hi,

It seems like music organization is something that many of us struggle with - I certainly do. I thought it might be fun to craft an exercise we can do to show each other how we think about these things.

Below are links to 3 songs I am having trouble categorizing. Please choose 1 or more and let the group know not only how you would classify it, but also how you would organize it in your folder structure, crates, etc......

For example - On the track below, it starts out sounding classically latin/cumbia style to me. But starting at 2:15 it starts to sound almost like a breakbeat.

It's important you listen to the beginning AND the section at 2:15. I have this in my "World" crate and tagged with "latin" but I also have it in my "Breaks" section.

What would you do with it?

Song #2 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOaMCLrRF6U

This is a new song I bought and I have no idea how to classify it or where to place it in my library. What would you do with it?

Song #3 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTOKhSpe9Cs

Another song that has several transitions in it making it hard for me to classify or categorize. I have it in "world" tagged with Latin and tagged with Dub. I also have it in my "Deep House" crate. I know it isn't really "Deep House" but it's something I might play in the midst of other Deep House tracks so I also have it in that crate. What would you do with it?

Please feel free to just do 1 or all of them. If people enjoy this and it seems helpful I'll post some more after this thread seems to run it's course.

Thanks!
