Hi,
I have a recorded mix that I am messing with in Audacity. I have never used audio editing software before so I’m struggling a bit.
The main thing I want to correct is that in a few sections of the mix, I had a vocal acapella going on channel one over music on channel two.
The acapella is too loud and I want to lower the volume.
However it appears that (here’s where my terminology may be wrong) the channels are recorded together and are inseparable in Audacity. In other words, I can’t just lower the volume of the vocals, even though they were originally the only thing in channel one because the recording process merges the two track.
I can’t lower the vocal without it lowering everything or otherwise isolate the vocal post-production.
Is there a way to do this I’m unaware of? And, if not, Is there some way I need to be recording differently to avoid this in the future?
