Question about transition types
Post Body

Hello,

I've learned some "fancy" transitions.....such as roll loops and such. But more and more I find myself merely mixing songs in and using the EQ, loops, some echoes and such to do long transitions that are (to the best of my ability) imperceptible.

In most of the mixes I listen to and like, I don't think they are doing any high level transitions either. It's mostly just artful EQ'ing, etc.

I do want to eventually be able to add a third deck and that's important to me as I think a lot of the DJs I like do this.....but, generally speaking, is it really necessary to learn fancy transitions? I don't really like abrupt outs, nor loop rolls, hard cuts, etc.....I feel like for someone like me, who plans to be ONLY a bedroom/house party/uploading mixes to Mixcloud for my friends, etc.....it's an awful lot of maintenance and upkeep to remember how to do these fancy transitions when I don't really think there necessary for my style of mixing.

So I guess the question is.......do many of you "only" EQ mix?

Thanks!
