DJing a genre which just isn't played in your area?

Post Body

Context: At home, I play mostly bass music: dubstep, electro house, DnB, trap... That type of music. But in the area I live in (Barcelona), the bass music scene is pretty much dead: most, if not all, of the bass music events/clubs that played it have closed down. As far as I know, no clubs play that kind of music, and there's almost no demand for DJs in that genre here (the only major DJs in this kind of music to play here in the last two years are Dillon Francis and Jauz). There is only one major event that sometimes plays bass music here, but most of the bass music scene resides in other areas of Spain. The only bass genre that is kinda big here is DnB, but I don't play much of that.

So my question is: how do you get gigs playing a genre for which there pretty much is no scene for in your area?
