Hello, Iām looking forward to sharing my reptilian family members w all of you; if you ever have any questions/concerns re Beardies, Monitors or Tegus, feel free to HMUā¦I donāt profess to know everything, but Iāve had 30-63 lizards at any one time. And in life Iāve learned that itās much better to learn from the mistakes of others, rather than from your own. If I donāt know the answer, I research it and them call my Exotics Reptiles Office to verify. They are The Animal Hospital if Penasquitos in SoCal, and as far as Iām concerned, they represent the state if the art re reptile husbandry, ailments etc. Iām not aware of anyone in the U.S. that is better. So, I get to learn something more often than not. A few of you know why I do thisā¦re the recent death of my 14 yr-old son, who wanted to be a veterinarian and loved the beardies that he and I bred. After he passed I took care of his private collection, and slowly it expanded to its current state. I know he would have have been thrilled to help others re their lizards. A huge part of why I offer my free assistance to all of you is related to this, so thank you in advance. In terms of photo-sharing, Iāll start out w my āMiracle Babiesā - not really hatchlings anymore. I bought a beautiful female red from a store that is no longer in operation. She appeared a bit sluggish, but I felt perhaps it was dehydration or something simple. Turns out she was egg/bound, and as she struggled to push her eggs out, I tearfully watched her die, having tried every trick under the sun. As she took her last breath, I ran to the kitchen, grabbed the sharpest knife, along with a roll paper towels 3 Tupperware containers and a bag of Perlite. This next part was heart-breaking, but I cut a long slit down the middle of her belly, removed the double string of daisy-chains eggs, removed the protective sac from each individual egg (the most critical and time/consuming part of the whole thing, placed them in the warm/moist perlite, and one day I opened the incubator to find 18 hatchlings. Looking back, I wish Iād kept all of them. The five in the photo are the ones I didnāt try to sell due to tail nips. Moving from R to L, you can see the difference between the runt of the litter and the best eater. Apparently, as you can see, either the male and/or female parent were HET for Orange Citrus, Genetic Stripe and Blue Tiger on the sides. Ok, thanks for checking this out! š
