Your #1 issue is controlling your Vitamins and minerals. Beyond that being a dude and not having liver problem helps.

The body breaks down excess protein (such as unnecessary skin) back into amino acids to repair itself when in a prolonged fasted state.
These amino acids get carried away by the blood and then reassembled where needed or burned for energy.
