I just finished my prototype 3d printed fucking machine.
I used my 3d printer to print almost everything. The non-printed components are:
- Cheapest drawer slide I could find
- 24v DC Power Supply
- NEMA 34 Stepper Motor
- 24v PWM Stepper Motor Controller
- An old OG Raspberry Pi I had around
- 24v usb car charger (to power the pi)
Basically I wanted to buy a nice fucking machine but realized that they tend to be dumb and over $200 even via ali express. I figured I could make my own smart one so I did. The entire cost was ~$110
The device is powered by a simple python script that sets up the "user" (hopefully tied up at the time) to be penetrated at so many strokes per minute.
Safety wise it is as "fail safe" as I could make it. The "user" mounts them-self at maximum depth when the arm is fully extruded. If the controller/motor/anything goes haywire the primary gear rack will slide out of range and penetrate no further then the original max depth.
Future Features Include:
- A cover for the gear to add an additional anti-pinch safety feature.
- Music mode where by the machine can thrust with the beat of audio input.
- Voice API integration where the user can beg? for changes or be forced to beg.
- A screen/external UI so you can configure / use the device without knowing how to SSH.
- A faster controller. An OG raspberry PI is painfully slow.
- A rust re-write of the python code. AN OG Pi GPIO modulation rate is 22Mhz. With python I can't get close. The motor isn't even close to being the bottle neck
If people are interested I would be happy to publish all of the code and 3d object files.
If people are interested I might consider selling kits too.
Anyways I am pretty proud of it.
