My newest wooden BDSM bench. Turning standard lumber into a distressed peace of BDSM furniture.

Post Body

This is my newest wooden BDSM bench. This was inspired by a simple bench I saw online, that was made out of large blocks of wood.

The shape is a simple as possible. I decided to use readily available 2x4s and 1x2s. Instead of using standard construction screw, I opted for GRK screws because they had a brass color and a head that looks "finished".

The finished look is always important to me. I like bdsm devices that are handmade, but that show a good amount of care, precision , and integrity went into the building process. I feel that the finished product reflects the integrity of the Dom that built it. A lot of time goes into the planning, material selection, crafting, and finishing a build project. The patience, care, and skill you put into your builds is a good example of the patience, care, and skill you bring to a bday dynamic with your subs.

I added heavy duty shackles on the ends to act as restraints.

To finish the wood I did 3 layers of stain. The first was grey, the second was espresso, and the third coat was an application of water based exterior paint. I waited for each layer to dry before applying the next.

Once dried, I decided to take 220 grit sandpaper and intentional sand out different layers of stain. The goal was to give the bench a distressed look. After sanding I applied a coat of matt polyurethane to seal the wood. Overall, I'm very happy with the finished look of the wood (especially since all the wood is cheap lumber).

After it was all done, I attached leveling feet to the bottom of the legs. This will insure that the bench sits stable on any surface.

I hope to find a new model to photograph on the bench, showing the various things you can do with a simple bench like this.

If you have any questions about the build, I'll do my best to answer.
