I’d like to share some of my current batch of toys. I’ve always been a bdsm diy’er ever since my first Spartacus mail order catalog. A lot of people think you need special tools or skills but some diy projects can be very simple
Pair of paddles made from a vintage paddleball set I found in a thrift store, very nice plywood that takes a sanding and oiling. Incredibly smooth. Yes, that is a wooden spoon from the 99 cent store with a handle wrapped in leather. And my current project, an 18” paddle that was rough hewn with a coping saw and smoothed out with a dremel and a cutting bit. Still rough but needs a little more sanding and shaping. Will look very nice either oiled or in black lacquer as this one might be, per request.
Pair of leather floggers, first one made from a large single piece of leather with one end cut into strips and the other end wrapped around a wooden dowel and tied down using last leather strip. Classic pattern that can be found anywhere online. Looks rough but this was mostly a test to see if I could. I could. The second smaller one is made out of a single piece of buffalo hide cut and wrapped in the same way, no wooden dowel and wrapped with sports tape
Set of leather belts, also thrifted, ends cut off and contact cemented together, instant slappers, the braided one came out particularly nice
Wooden canes and swagger sticks, if you will. Basically recycled pool cues and kids golf clubs with the club head cut off. You can also wrap the whole shaft in heat shrink tubing to change it to any color you want, I just put a piece of red tubing on the end for a bit of contrast and by way of demonstration
Clothes hangers and I think we all know a way to use these
This is a small sampling of stuff I’ve made over the years, all of these are still rough and are used to share how easy this can be. I’ve spent a lot of spare time making some really nice projects and the whole thing can be very rewarding knowing you’re using your toys and not overpriced mass produced stuff, not that there’s anything wrong with it. Comments and opinions welcome
