I'm looking for insights into different traditional wood finishes and the potential damage to toys and/or users.

I'm leaning towards using a linseed oil to finish this storage box (complete with locking & powered drawers, and dividers for each toy) as I like the finish it provides.

Most of my toys are high quality silicone, stainless, or glass, however I do have a few cheaper jelly style toys.

I know jelly toys are porous, so anything it comes into contact with can be absorbed into the surface, so id likely store these toys in a small baggie. The stainless or glass I'm not worried about, but should I be concerned with the silicone at all?

From what I have been able to dig up on the web is silicone is pretty impervious to most liquids, but most of the data I'm finding is regarding the kitchen, or industrial applications, not sensitive vaginas, anuses, or mouths.

Secondly, I plan on wiping off all excess oil after finishing, and allowing time for the wood to absorb before storing anything in it, but should I be concerned about the toys transferring oil from the chest to the user?

I see plenty of postings about using other edible oils as sex lube, linseed being one of them, so Id assume its safe, but thought Id ask those who are maybe more versed in this than I or the sources I'm finding.

Should I avoid any oil finishes and look to water based finishes? I want something that's easy to clean, and attractive. I lean towards oil finishes due to grain raising issues with water finishes.
