Note: Express Yourself is a POC-only play party.

This space is by and for People of color, and it's only open to folks of color. That's because we’re invested in cultivating a space that centers the experiences, relationships, connection, and pleasure of people of color -- a space free of the microaggressions, self-doubt, or fetishization that can occur in majority-white spaces. We want to explore the possibilities of our pleasurable connection outside of these factors that can sometimes weigh on us in ways that we may not be aware of and impede our full sexual expression. For our purposes, we define "person of color" as people who have lived experiences as a racial minority in the United States. At least one birth parent was perceived and treated as a person of color, or would have been were they in the United States.

This party is for people with all levels of experience, from the merely curious or questioning to the most experienced swingers; from the decidedly monogamous to the most committed polyamorists. We welcome people representing every sexual preference, gender expression, and body type. None of us are getting free until we all get free. If you're new to play parties, we encourage you to attend a special pre-party playshop at 7pm, Sex Party Survival Guide, to help orient you to the experience.

Express yourselves with us as we celebrate cuddle season, onesies are encouraged (but not required). The Oakland-grown play party for people of color by people of color is back for our last party of 2022 with some dope DJs, your delicious food (potluck), and a great reason to get out of the house and into something else on a Saturday night (November 5). We hope to see you there!

Who All Gone Be There Though!?

Some of you have expressed a desire to know how many people will be attending the party. It's difficult to know how many will attend because that number never matches ticket sales (18.2% of ticket holders never make it to the party) and there are lots of last-minute purchases. We do know that the average number of people at each party is around 72. (That is an average and not a prediction. Since the pundemic we have had as many as 79 and as few as 42 people at one party.) I'm sharing this information in hopes that anyone reading this feels a bit of relief in knowing that this will not be an orgy of hundreds. This will be a cozy, cute play party and potluck (NOTAFLOF, No One Turned Away For Lack Of Food).
