And I am sure glad I didn't cancel it and give up when I found out Battlefield 5 was a thing. It is a total conversion mod to Battlefield 2, so it has taken a long time to get everything made from scratch. Yes the engine is graphically dated vs Frostbite, but we have up to 4k ground textures, and the latest ReShade which fully supports Ray tracing! We have some of the best explosion and particle effects ever made in the BF2 engine from the Project Reality team. Our weapons and vehicles we are trying to use some of the most detailed models and textures ever found in any BF2 mod, FH2 included and that is one of my favorite mods ever made. We have actually shared some stuff we made for our mod that will show up in Project Reality:WW2 which is releasing next weekend actually.
We have North Africa, Western Europe, the Pacific(With Naval combat!), and most importantly, a fully fledged Eastern Front! Also, historical authenticity is our prime objective. No more using the wrong equipment with the wrong faction...
The mod is still not ready yet, I estimate we are about 85% ready for a first release. We just have a lot more polishing to do to get it just right. We sure could use all the support we can get. We are making THE game that the community deserves and it is going to be released 100% free as a mod for BF2 of PC. So yes it still requires the base game.

P.S. If anybody would like to donate towards the purchase of new content from 3D model sites for the game, or just say thanks or buy us a beer any little bit helps. We want to be able to get HD player models exported, but they are super difficult so in order to have high quality models we do need to pay a person who can do this in the BF2 modding community who is not on our team to export them for us, which does cost money to both purchase the player models from 3D model sites, and to export. We have people on our team who can do difficult tings like exporting tanks and weapons and make maps, but player models are proving to be so hard to get made.
