Trying to run .jar application in a Batch file

I have created a batch file and am having several issues with it. I need the file to open a .jar application to convert .sdtid files to QR Codes.
I have this line as the first line after @echo off: start java -jar tokenconverter.jar.
When I run the batch file it opens a command prompt and then closes it. It basically fails to start.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
