I’m an instrumentalist with Carpal Tunnel in both wrists, advice needed
Post Body

As above, I have CTS(at the very least), in both wrist. I have to wear braces basically 24/7 or I risk nerve damage. I can schedule my surgery in November once open enrollment starts for government healthcare. I’m a self contracted worker. I also have both fortunately (and unfortunately) come into a bit of financial liberation after my mother passed this month.

For context, I can barely play guitar, bass, and other string instruments for more than ~5ish minutes with out pain even with wrist braces on. I CAN however play my upright bass for much longer, like 30 minutes. I feel like if the body wasn’t in the way I could do even better. So should I try to get an EUB like the Ibanez UB804, or really spring heavy for the Eminence bass(other suggestions very welcome)? It’s a niche I’d love to explore, playing both guitar and string bass.

I could also put out for a Mensinger Cazpar custom bass I’ve been dreaming of and could perhaps be more of use after my surgery. It’s a hollow, 5 string, fretless, short scale.

Or I could go all in for some synthesizers, which is what I’ve been using since the CTS came up. I’ve really loved it, and a Moog or modular setup would be amazing.

Thanks for your time.
