Long story short one of the ensemble groups in college had to replace their bassist due to covid, so my instructor asked if I’d be up for it. I said yes regardless, but once I looked at the setlist and saw I have less than 5 days to learn all the songs, I realized it’s gonna be an uphill battle. I typically play in the style of Motörhead, Joy Division, or Royal Blood, but I gotta learn RHCP’s Dark Necessities which has some pretty killer slap bass that I haven’t messed with. My technique is a bit shit if I’m going to be honest, so I was hoping to hear of any suggestions to pull it off given my short time frame. Definitely bit off more than I could chew, but I’m good friends with a lot of the folks and I’m too stubborn to let this one down.
