I'd like to start by saying while I've been playing on and off for a few years I know next to nothing about the mechanics of a bass. So I have this old bass that I usually have max out everything on an amp to hear. I thought this was just because it's old. Well I just learned that it has a battery in it what was way corroded. So I took it out cleaned up the slot and put a new one in and instantly it was all better, thing sounded like new. But after playing for a few minutes everything now sounds super distorted, like I'm using an over drive paddle at all times, and when I'm not playing there's a constant popping sound. Did I fuck up my bass? And if I did do you guys know of any fixes? I only recently got serious about really learning the instrument and this thing is like my baby
