I could use some advice on whether or not to take a gig.
Post Body

Well, I had an audition for a band last night. I nailed the audition, and they offered me the gig. They're a band that does originals and cover tunes. They get paid to do so, and they have a biggish name around where I live. They just got back from a national tour, they've opened for big name acts (shinedown, halestorm, the secret state, All-American Rejects). It all sounds like lollipops and rainbows.

Problem is... there are some major issues. One, the drummer is the guitarists father, and they argue all the time. Two, the song selection is not really great for the singer's range. Three, they don't understand what sounds good, and they didn't come ready to practice at a high level when I tried out. It was the same guitar sound for every song, from shinedown to skynrd, just that high gain line 6 screech. The drummer did not know the tunes, period. Just kinda winged a 4 on the floor beat the whole time. They have a gig in less than 2 weeks, that should pay about 75 bucks a piece, and I could really use the cash, but I'm not sure I can tolerate the problems that long.

So what do I do here? Use this as an opportunity to acquaint myself with their obviously excellent connections and maybe make a little cash in the process? Or do I listen to my first gut feeling and run? I'm just a young'n, and I could use some advice from those who have been there before.
