I'm pretty excited to get started and was incredibly excited when I noticed that there was a reddit forum for bass players. I've been going over a lot of posts and it's very encouraging to see that most of the members here seem to consist of helpful members rather than a bunch of stuck up assholes.

Anyway, I plan on going to Guitar Center and picking up a package deal which would consist of a starter bass, small amp, strap, vinyl case, and picks. I think it priced out around $230.

After doing a little research it seems that the "Hal Leonard Bass Method For Beginners" is one of the better teaching products. Can anyone here back that up?
