Hello, I'm a newish bass player and I have been trying to really hear the bass in music, like focus on it. I've gotten much better at picking it up in the mix but for some reason most of the bass covers on YouTube sound off.
The biggest thing I've noticed is that so many covers have a high treble, clanky sound to them and when I listen to the song I hear more of a smooth low end or deep low end, to the point where it's hard to pick out notes. I don't hear that clanky sound (on most music, some music I can definitely hear it)
So are they just adding their own twist to songs or am I just totally off on what I'm hearing?
