Greetings oh great slappers of strings, givers of groove, reapers of rhythm. I’m a fairly new guitar player (less than 2 years). I was thinking of branching out to bass to 1) improve my overall musicianship (particularly my crap timing) and 2) my favorite musician is a bass player and, of course, wanna be just like him (gushing, 🫠). His style is not real typical though and I’m not sure if I’d ever be able to learn to play how he does…?
Zach Smith from Pinback and Systems Officer. He plays very musically, lots of cords, plays really really high up the neck for most of his music. Even uses a shorter scale length Alembic Stanley Clark.
What are my chances of learning unique styles like this on the Bass? How would I go about it? Keeping in mind I’m a pretty green musician.
Cheers
