Howdy,
35 years ago I picked up a guitar. Long before the internet, I had to muddle through store-bought guitar magazines and I lived in a place that had very few people that could mentor me. Because of this I spent decades practicing wrong and it really has led to so habits and limitations that are near impossible for me to correct.
Anyway, so I started my second musical journey as a bass player with the mind-numbing and vast amount of resources at my fingertips, I am trying to get in the game of playing live as a bass player without being hampered by practicing wrong. I've already been told my Basslines are guitar-esque and I need to focus more on keeping time. I have been learning Sade and Portishead bass lines which are not too difficult to play but the simplicity has a degree of difficulty on its own. Especially, when trying to come up with original lines.
I was thinking about shelling out for Bass-Buzz or SBL but I am on the fence at the moment. I thought I would query this community first and ask. What resources do you find invaluable and what are the one or two things you wish you would have learned and played proper right off the bat?
Thanks in advance
