Shooting From Behind Head

I cannot stop shooting from behind my head. I’ve always done it & I have heard it makes it harder to block the shot. I was taught a different way of shooting the ball when I was younger & it sticks with me to this day.
My shot is off most of the time from any range except a layup which I still miss sometimes even more than occasionally. What’s the best piece of advice you can give me to help improve my shot?
