Why is it so hard to hit short jumpers

So when warming up i shoot without jumping to get comfortable with my shot. I can hit midrange pretty well but as soon as i try to hit short jumpers i brick every shot. I just cant hit its either to short or i hit the back of the rim. Do i need to use a hook shot or something luje that instead of using my normal shot technique?
